Old Mill Toronto Wedding Photos

Sarah began her Old Mill Toronto wedding at the hotel to get ready. This historical venue is so beautiful and filled with character. The hotel room decor and windows lent itself so well to moody and artistic images. Sarah was so up for every creative idea I had and I couldn’t be more happy with what we created together. After creating her lovely getting-ready photos with her best friend and mom she moved to the gardens. Waiting for her was her soon-to-be husband, Dave, to have their first look. Dave, a little camera-shy, anxiously paced in anticipation. Even so, when he laid eyes upon his bride the world fell away and all he could see was her stunning smile. Once they had seen each other and spent a quiet moment together they were ready for their photos. We captured the majority of their wedding photos at the Old Mill before moving on to The Henley Room for their ceremony and reception. Even though it was the middle of October the flowers and trees were still in bloom which added even more interest to the images. The property is pretty small yet everywhere you look there is something unique which gives you so much variety. This venue is definitely a one-stop shop.

However, Sarah and Dave were looking for a small, minimal Toronto wedding venue for their reception. They picked the unique Henley Room at the Argonaut Rowing Club. I had never heard of this venue before they reached out to me. I was so blown away by the view they had of the lake and the Etobicoke skyline. They held their ceremony on the dock under a cloudy fall sky. I was happy about this because with the location being so exposed the sun could have created harsh light. Other than the beautiful view of Lake Ontario I loved the 100-year-old photography of previous rowing teams. This seemed a very fitting venue to pair with theĀ Old Mill as that building is also 100 years old. To make their marriage ceremony more personal they used the Scottish handfasting ritual. The tartan tie was passed to every person in attendance to touch and lay a blessing upon.

My favourite moment from their marriage ceremony was their dog Moka’s reaction to Sarah walking down the aisle. He had walked down previously with the maid of honour and was sitting obediently. But when Mom showed up and was standing a few feet without saying hello he began crying for her. Without skipping a beat Sarah grabbed his leash to bring him close. With things being how they should be in the world of Moka and laid down and let the ritual continue. After their ceremony, we created more wedding photos of them with their dogs, Moka and Larry. I was so excited that their dogs were a part of their intimate wedding ceremony. I am a huge dog lover so this just melted my heart. It was such a good time watching these two celebrate their love. They both have very close families that showered them with affection all day long. The day came to a close with all of their friend ripping up the dance floor. Literally every aspect of this Toronto wedding day was filled with joy and laughter. I am so grateful to have been invited to capture their Old Mill Toronto wedding. I hope I’ll be able to witness more weddings at these two venues in the near future.
