Kariya Park Surprise Proposal Photos
I was so excited when Bryce contacted me about his Kariya Park surprise proposal plans for his girlfriend, Rawan. He wanted to propose at the stunning Japanese gardens of Kariya Park in Mississauga. I had never had the opportunity to photograph at this park before. Being located in Oshawa, many of my clients are located in Durham Region and Toronto. I love that Bryce has given me the opportunity to branch out to new places. It was a moody, rainy evening with a sight nip in the air. Even though we were well into October I was happy to see that the trees and plants were still green. I followed the couple for a couple of minutes as they strolled the park. Bryce then led her back to the planned spot under the pavilion to pop the big question. Thankfully, she didn’t notice me and she was completely surprised to see him get down on his knee. Her reaction was so adorable and the embrace they shared afterwards was so heartwarming. After they had a few minutes to absorb what had just happened we continued their photoshoot. It really felt like we had travelled to a completely different place with beautiful Japanese details. It was easy to forget that we were in the centre of the busy city of Mississauga, Ontario. I absolutely love shooting at unique Toronto proposal locations and this has definitely been added to my favourites list. These two were so amazing to photograph as they were dripping with post marriage proposal bliss. They have been taking dancing classes together and actually had one earlier that day. They had to bust out some of their moves which made for such fun photography. I love the engagement photographs we created and hope I will be at this location again soon with other newly engaged couples.

Bryce and Rawan met through mutual friends in high school but started spending more time together at university. Bryce texted her one day to ask if she would like to go on a date. She excitedly said yes and planned it for the upcoming weekend. They went to a cute local cafe for coffee and ended with him playing guitar as they looked over the city skyline. As they said goodbye she asked if she could kiss him. He was blown away that she thought she needed to ask. Of course, he wanted to kiss her! Their first date transformed into their first kiss and they have been inseparable ever since. This was a few years ago and they are so thrilled that this year they will be planning their wedding. They love just being in each other’s presence so choosing a walk in the park for their big milestone was a great choice. With it being a rainy evening they also had the whole place to themselves. I always ask couples why it’s important they have their proposal captured. They wanted surprise proposal photos because she loves documenting life photographically and sharing their moments with their families. It’s so sweet to imagine them reliving their special moment with their family members using their engagement photos. That’s why I love what I do so much! I’m so grateful I got to be a part of their moment and hope to be back at this amazing park again soon to capture another couple’s Kariya Park surprise proposal photos.
