Elegant Unionville Surprise Proposal

Markham has many beautiful locations but I love the quaint and romantic vibes of the Unionville main street. I love walking around these vintage-style areas, making a day of visiting the shops and grabbing lunch. Other beautiful main streets include Kleinburg, Port Perry and the Distillery District. It’s no surprise that these locations have been used as whimsical backdrops for romance movies. When Akash contacted me about documenting his Unionville surprise proposal I was so excited to have the chance to create photos in the area. He told me about his relationship and what he wanted from his engagement photos. However, he didn’t tell me that he would be hiring his family member whose in the event planning business. When I arrived at the gazebo I was in awe of the amazing decorations. The already lovely gazebo was elevated in elegance with the addition of rose petals, fairy lights, florals, lanterns, and a neon sign. Seeing how perfect he wanted his proposal to be for Natasha was so sweet. We were there on a busy Saturday evening so there were many people stopping by to admire the scene. Some even waited around to witness the moment and take photos and videos of their own. Good thing that these two are confident and not bothered by attention. Natasha’s friends also showed up to be a part of the moment and offer her congratulations afterwards. We chatted about how sweet everything was while we waited for their arrival. Once I saw the couple walking up the street I got into position. Of course, when Natasha saw the set up she had a suspicion it was for her. It was confirmed when she spotted her best friends on the sidelines. They walked up under the gazebo, Akash said a few words and then got down on one knee. Almost immediately Natasha was overcome with emotion and smiles.

After she said “Yes!” he got up and squeezed her tightly into his arms. As you can imagine the audience that had continued to grow clapped and shouted their congratulations. It’s always a cute thing that brings joy to the couple’s face. After taking a few moments to take in the moment together they said hello to me. I explained to Natasha that there was another surprise. We’d spend the rest of our time together creating their Markham engagement photos. I always feel a little bad because the ladies always feel a little overwhelmed by the surprise of their proposal. Adding in the extra surprise of a photo shoot can sometimes add to the flurry of emotion. However, you could tell Natasha is very comfortable in her skin so we jumped right into capturing their happiness. Akash told me he was looking for playful, romantic and easygoing photos. The surrounding area has many great backgrounds within walking distance to use following a Unionville surprise proposal. The historical, small-town vibes surrounded by lush trees and gardens is a proposal photographer’s dream come true. We casually walked up and down the main street utilizing the little buildings with lots of character. After creating many great photos together it was time for Akasha and Natasha to continue their celebration with a romantic dinner. I wished them all the best and sent them a few sneak peeks the next morning so they could share with family and friends. I’m so grateful to have been a part of their special milestone and love the photos we made together. I can’t wait to see what the next Unionville surprise proposal has in store.
