Origin

In 2008 I signed up for my high school's Darkroom Photography class. I was a daydreaming, quiet, artsy kid who only did well if the class required creativity. That tiny decision set my life on a whole new trajectory. Obviously, I found my passion. I discovered a way to express myself, connect with the world and the people around me. I had a constant hunger to learn more and everyone I knew became my guinea pigs. I was so joyful and proud when I was accepted on the spot to Humber's photography program. After Humber, I registered my business at 21. I threw up a website of edgy photos and the clients flocked... Not. I worked retail for two years and lost my path. So I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to Scotland. No plan, no return date. It is the single best decision I ever made. I spent every day for two and a half months exploring, building confidence, finding myself, and creating an endless stream of photography. It reignited my spark and illuminated my path. I desired a life filled with adventure, connecting with others, creating images, and telling stories. I was determined to make it as a professional photographer. On my return, I worked in retail for two more years until one day I walked out. I dove off a cliff and into life as a full-time wedding photographer. Was I ready? No. Did it light a bonfire under my ass? Yep. That day was four years ago. My 16-year-old self would be gobsmacked. I am so grateful for such a fulfilling "job" in which I experience indirectly the emotions of laughter and happy tears alongside my amazing couples on their happiest days surrounded by people they love most. It truly is an honour. Most importantly, I capture meaningful moments in their story so they can be remembered and treasured endlessly.

ISLE OF SKYE

Right before Mike + I's first date purchased a one-way ticket to Scotland. I was leaving to find myself. I had no idea how long I would be away so it left us in a little bit of a limbo. About a week into my trip Mike surprised me with the news that he would be visiting for my birthday. That was one of many moments in which I realized he was the one. We jam-packed his 10 days visiting Glasgow, Edinburgh, and my favourite - the Isle of Skye. When night fell we pitched our tent where we found ourselves. The 75 days I spent travelling Scotland changed me. It will forever be one of the most treasured times in my life.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

One of Mike's favourite trips was when he hiked the Juan De Fuca trail with his buds in BC. So on our next trip together we chose Vancouver Island. We road tripped all around the island visiting places such as Tofino for our first time surfing and Victoria to see Orcas and Humpbacks in the wild. One of the highlights of the trip was when we meet a couple also from Whitby. This was super weird because we literally didn't see anyone else at this remote park. They let us in on an incredible secret. On the treacherous logging road we drove in on was Canada's biggest tree. We were to look out for a ribbon on our way out. After driving for 15 minutes we gave up believing we had missed it. I asked Mike to stop so I could grab something out of the trunk and believe it or not... We looked out the driver's window to see the marker. It was fate! We hiked into hush hush corner of the Pacific Rim park to the Cheewhat Giant. Laying our hands on this 2,500-year-old beauty was awe-inspiring.

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK

In March 2019 I headed to El Paso, Texas. I was on another solo adventure to a photo fest in the very artsy Marfa. I love travelling alone as I literally go where the wind takes me. I spent 3 hours road tripping into the desert. When the festival came to an end I knew I had to see more of this amazing landscape. So I drove 2 more hours to Big Bend. I packed my days full of hiking, cruising and photographing the amazing landscape. I even hung out in a river that is the border between the US + Mexico! Even though I was alone I constantly gasped and said "Oh wow!" out loud.

ALGONQUIN PARK

I have been to Algonquin Park countless times and it's beauty never gets old. Every summer we love to visit so we can decompress and spend peaceful quality time together. We hike, swim, lounge on the beach, treat ourselves to many Kawartha dairy cones, play board games and Mike actually reads his one book a year! (I rag on him all the time for not reading more. I'm a bookworm!) Our favourite hikes are Booth's Rock, Track + Tour and Lookout.

MOUNT KATAHDIN

Climbing Maine's highest mountain was no easy feat... It took my sister and I 12 hours to make our way up and down again. Even though my sister was freaked out by it I loved the part of the trail called "Knife Edge". This task was super tough and it's one of my most enjoyable achievements. I highly recommend Baxter State Park to everyone. We saw moose every other day and kayaked constantly. We also experienced white water rafting for the first time which was also incredible. This trip was an experience with my sister that I'll forever treasure.

EDGE WALK

Talk about an adrenaline rush! For my sister's 19th birthday I booked us an edge walk at the CN Tower. She took it on like a fearless champ but my heart was beating out of my chest. Once I dangled myself over the edge and calmed myself down I didn't want it to end! I am a firm believer that a new experience is the best gift to give to the ones you love.
