Nothing is more true than that fact that your partner wants to feel like you put a lot of thought into your proposal plan. This means not picking the typical and very popular spots. No need to worry though, there are many other GTA proposal locations for you to choose from. If you’re looking for a more unique location check out the spots listed below. These spots are also very picturesque if you’re really going to wow them and bring a proposal photographer along! I have also included some really beautiful spots located outside the GTA if you’re willing to go the extra mile.

Aga Khan Musem
The Aga Khan is an urban location that features stunning modern architecture that is minimalistic and striking. There is also a lovely water feature. This spot makes for amazing photography. Permit is required.
Scotsdale Farm
Is your partner more laid back and outdoorsy? How about considering the meadows and farm house at Scotsdale Farm. The farm and surrounding land was donated to the public and requires no permit.
Guildwood Park
Guildwood Park features many historical statues and sculptures that originally belonged on Toronto buildings that has since been replaced. The park is filled with them and they make for amazing photos. The park also features forest and stunning manicured gardens and paths. Permit is required.
Terre Bleu Lavender Farm
Terre Bleu is Ontario’s largest lavender farm and it is an incredible sight. While the rows of lavender is what makes this spot picturesque there is so many great spots at this location. They have a barn, ponds, horse paddocks, forest, gazebo, and a terrace amongst stone ruins. Depending on the time of year, sunflower fields! Permit is required.
Lakeview Park
Lakeview Park is Oshawa’s gem. Not only does it have an awesome beach it also has historical homes that add so much variety for photos. It also showcases many look out points over the lake, gardens, lawns and a pier. Permit is not required.
University of Toronto
U of T has so much character! The historical architecture, lawns and gardens create such an air of romance that it’s perfect for proposals. There are many options when it comes to the university including Knox College, Trinity College, and Hart House. Permit is required.
Trillium Park
Trillium Park boasts one of the best views of the Toronto skyline in the city. The part is on the waterfront and features a dock that is perfectly set for a proposal moment. It also has lots of park land and gardens. Permit is not required.
Kariya Park
Located in Mississauga is this lovely urban Japanese garden and features many unique spots to take photos which will look as if you’ve travelled elsewhere. Permit is required.
Trafalgar Castle School
Trafalgar is a historic estate now turned private school. However, it’s also available for weddings and photo shoots. Not only do you have access the the grounds when you purchase a permit but you also have 2 rooms inside the estate to use as well. This location is perfect for those you hate being the centre of attention as it is closed to the public.
Royal Botanical Gardens
If your partner has a love of nature and flowers there’s no where better then the Royal Botantical Gardens in Burlington. This location has so much going for it. From endless gorgeous gardens, water features and greenhouses. Permit is required.
Rockwood Conservation Area
Rockwood offers an outdoorsy location that has more character. Not only does it feature trails and forest but it also has a waterfall, cliffs and photo worthy stone ruins. Permit not required.
Parkwood Estate
You’ve probably seen Parkwood Estate before but maybe didn’t know it. The location has been featured in countless movies and TV shows. It’s not surprising the estate is so grand and beautiful with it’s mansion, gardens, lawns, green house and water features. There’s also the option to shoot inside the mansion built in 1915. Permit is required.
Dog Tales Horse Sanctuary
Dog Tales is a privately owned dog shelter and horse sanctuary. This isn’t your average shelter though… It was built by multi millionaires who wanted to create the most beautiful home for the animals as possible. They house over 80 horses those beautiful paddocks span for many acres. They also have lovely gardens, lawns and pathways on the property. The property is only open to the general public on Sundays so your proposal would be quite private. Permit is required.
Black Creek Pioneer Village
Is your partner a lover of history? Look no further than Black Creek Pioneer Village. This historic village has so many lovely buildings that will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. Not to mention they make for charming photography backdrops. The location also features live farm animals and surrounding forest. Permit is required.
The Doctors House
The Doctor’s House is a wedding venue located in the heart of Kleinberg in Vaughan. The chapel and gardens make for a stunning proposal location. It’s also just a short walk from the main street that features a historic railway station and many quaint shops. Permit is required.
Rouge Beach
Rouge Beach in Pickering is the spot for couples who love to be by the water. It features a creek, trails, beach, forest and of course, an amazing view of Lake Ontario.
Elora Gorge
Elora Gorge Conservation Area is for the adventurous couple that loves a good hike. Walk down into the gorge and be wowed by the rocky cliffs, river, dense forest and the picture perfect bridge that crosses overhead. Permit not required.
Tiffany Falls
Tiffany Falls is another breathtaking waterfall located in Hamilton, Ontario. It features a small platform overlooking the falls, forest, a bridge and a trail leading through it all. Permit is required.
Dundas Peak
Thinking about proposing in the fall? Dundas Peak is your place! The high view over the colour changing forest is to die for. However, this spot is a stunner any time of year. Explore the trails, views and forest. Permit is required.
RC Harris Water Plant
RC Harris Water Plant was designed to be just as pleasing to the eye and it is functional. The imposing art deco building has so much character and makes for awesome photos. It showcases stone staircases, a water feature, waterfront views, and a beach.
