When Ashley suggested that her and Alex’s Whitby engagement photography session take place at Pringle Creek, where they had their first date, I was thrilled. To be honest this is the last spot that I would have ever considered when scouting for locations. I had only driven by and seen the fields but there is actually a trail system in behind with a creek running alongside. I love happening on a new Whitby engagement photography location from a client. While I always have a bunch of great local spots to choose from for a session, it’s always great to have a location that has sentimental meaning to the couple. It’s also awesome for a wedding photographer to be forced from their favorite locations and pushed into the unknown. When I was taking a look around this location just before the session it was raining hard and created an atmospheric mood. It actually really reminded me of Scotland, how it’s always wet and mossy. I thought it really worked well with my dark and moody photography look. Got to love how things just come together perfectly, huh?
Ashley and Alex first met on a mutual friend’s couch. They had never talked before but Ashley quickly felt trusting and comfortable around Alex and began to tell him about the struggles she had been facing. What would have otherwise been a traumatic retelling quickly Ashley was immediately put at ease by Alex’s kindness and empathy. She was shocked to come across a stranger so selfless to care so deeply about a perfect strangers hardships and actually want to take the time to help her heal.
They went on to have their first date on the bleachers at Pringle Creek Fields in Whitby. Again they talked deeply about their pasts, what they wanted for their futures and their dreams. Ashley was overwhelmed to find a man that truly cared about her and wanted to hold her hand in the darkness to help her reach the light. No matter what.Their relationship may have happened fast with the two moving in together 3 months later, 3 months after that and in just 6 short months they will be marrying at Kedron Dells Golf Course in Oshawa. I’m so excited to capture their day of love for them. Ashley has warned me that her family is an emotional one. but this makes for fantastic, moving images.

I’m so excited to capture their day of love for them. Ashley has “warned” me that her family is a very emotional one. Your mom and dad might be a blubbering mess with snot and the like but this 100% makes for fantastic, moving images. The more emotion the better 🙂
